Tips to Save Your Groceries Budget


We have to save our budget these days and no other reason. For moms and wives, we have to be smart about our household expenses and what we can do is learn to save our groceries budget. Here are some tips to save your groceries budget :



  • Make a groceries list. If we write down all the groceries we can control our budget. We intend to buy what we need and not what we like or just for impulsive buying.
  • You may collect groceries coupons and discount. Find out which grocery store that have discount season in your area and you can use it to buy things that you really need and have planned it.
  • Buy seasonal things not in the middle of the season. I mean, if you need a new pair of booth for this winter, don't wait until winter. But buy them now or when the winter season is over. Some department store will discount seasonal item if the season is over and the price is much cheaper. It could save your budget.
  • Don't get influenced by the commercial break. Ads could be very tempted.
  • Be smart when you choose the grocery store, if you find a grocery store that give you price under the other go to the cheaper one.
  • Buy groceries in a big amount at least shop for once a week or once a month. Wash and rinse all vegetables, store in the airtight container in refrigerator. Keep the meat and chicken or turkey in the freezer. If you shop in the big amount you may have discount and save the budget.
  • Mix and match the menu, for example if you roast a chicken, use the leftover to make a roast chicken sandwich for lunch or brucetta with roast chicken topping.
  • Avoid fried food, it could save the gas. You may steam, sautee, and eat raw veggie for example to save the gas.
  • Reduce your habit for eating out if you use to eating out almost every day, reduce it until just once a week in the weekend maybe.
Those are some tips to help reduce your expense or save your budget. You may use the rest for investment, saving, or for your children health care.

The Easy Lemon Cake

Ingredients :
1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup (1stick) softened butter
1 cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon grated lemon or lime zest
6 large eggs
3/4 cup sour cream
1/4 cup icing sugar

Directions :
1. Preheat the oven to 325 degree Fahrenheit. Butter a 9-inch baking pan. Sift the flour, baking powder, and salt into a medium bowl. Beat the butter, sugar and lemon zest in a large bowl with an electric mixer at medium speed until creamy.
2. Add the eggs, one at a time, until just blended after each addition. With mixer at low speed, gradually beat in the dry ingredients, alternating with the sour cream. Spoon the batter into the prepared pan.
3. Bake for 40-50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Cool the cake completely in the pan on a rack. Dust with the icing sugar. Enjoy!!!

The Carrot Brownies

I have one exotic brownies recipe, it's exotic because I use carrots rather than flour.

Ingredients :

300 gr dark cooking chocolate
25 gr flour sugar
75 gr margarine
75 gr unsalted butter
5 eggs (the red part only)
75 gr grated carrots
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon powder
75 gr almond powder
5 eggs (the white part, mixing until stiff)
25 gr sliced almond, baked

Instructions
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C)
  • Steam the dark cooking chocolate, add the sugar, margarine and butter. Stir well
  • Add eggs (the red one) one by one. Stir well
  • Add grated carrots, cinnamon, almond powder, and eggs (white parts). Stir it with rubber spatula. Pour into prepared pan
  • Put the sliced almond on top of it
  • Bake in the preheated oven in 50 minutes with au bain marie way.

Au bain marie : (also known as a water bath) is a French term for a piece of equipment used in science, industry, and cooking to heat materials gently and gradually to fixed temperatures, or to keep materials warm over a period of time
